The Carpathians: Discovering the Highlands of Poland and Ukraine

We are excited to welcome Patrice Dabrowski A.B. ’84, A.M. ’93, PhD ’99 to the Harvard Club of Boston for an in-person Author Series event. She will be discussing her recently published book, The Carpathians: Discovering the Highlands of Poland and Ukraine.

Patrice M. Dabrowski is a historian of Central and Eastern Europe. She has worked and taught at Harvard, Brown, the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and the University of Vienna. Dabrowski is currently an Associate of the Harvard Ukrainian Research Institute, an affiliate of the Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies, a member of the Board of Directors of the Polish Institute of Arts and Sciences of America (PIASA), and editor of H-Poland. She is the author of The Carpathians: Discovering the Highlands of Poland and Ukraine (2021), Poland: The First Thousand Years (2014; paperback edition, 2016), and Commemorations and the Shaping of Modern Poland (2004). In 2014 Dabrowski was awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland. She is the 2021 recipient of the Mary Zirin Prize, awarded annually by the Association for Women in Slavic Studies (AWSS).
